Did You Know?
- The death penalty system costs Colorado an estimated $3 million dollars per year.
- It costs the state of Colorado fifteen percent more per year to house a death row inmate than to house an inmate who has received a sentence of life with no possibility of parole.
- Since 1973, 138 people in the United States have been released from death row after new evidence showed they were not guilty of their crimes.
"I believe that no one should be executed, guilty or innocent. There are appropriate sanctions that protect society and punish wrongdoers without forcing us to stoop to the level of the least among us at his or her worst moment."
