About Broken Links

Many newspapers and similar Web sites now use links to news stories that deliberately expire after a period of time. The Coloradans Against the Death Penalty (CADP) site frequently displays the fair-use story excerpts after the links expire. Researchers can then use the excerpts, publication dates, and publication names to track down the complete stories.

Many publishers now offer a paid archive service for their past stories. You can search their archives by name, date, subject, and so forth; then pay a small fee to view any stories of interest. The expired links on the CADP site often take you to the publications' Web sites, where you can begin your search.

Because we are aware these links are temporary, there is no need to report broken news story links. However, please report any broken links to other Web sites, or broken links within the CADP site itself.
