Burnin' For Justice Chili Cook Off
The members of Coloradans Against
the Death Penalty are gearing up to pressure
legislators to end the death penalty in Colorado.
We can't win this battle without educating
the legislators and people all over Colorado.
We are going to raise $1,000.00 to bring
important speakers that have been most touched
by the injustice of the death penalty - the
wrongfully accused.
With the money raised, we are hoping to
fly in people like Juan Melendez. He lost
17 years and 8 months on Death Row - before
a confession by the real murderer was found
in his files.
When and Where?
- Sunday September 20th, 2009
from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
- Arrupe Jesuit High School

Who is Invited?
- We want everybody who
feels the death penalty is morally and
economically wrong.
- This is a community
event open to families … there will
be an arts and craft room available for
child care during the event.
- Students
from Denver area high schools, universities,
and law schools will come to show that
they are burnin' for
justice.
- State and local legislators have
also been invited to show their support
for this important issue.
What Attendees Can Expect:
- A Competitive Chili Cook Off: Taste
the award winning chilis. Winners
will receive gift certificates to Denver
businesses. The cost to enter chili in
the contest is $20.00.
- Good Food: There will
be plenty of chili for everyone. Chili
is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students
and children.
- New iPod touch: Get the chance to receive a brand new Apple
iPod touch.
- Educational Opportunities: There
will be a number of informed individuals
from CADP and a guest from
the National Coalition Against the Death
Penalty. Also see visual presentations,
story boards, and a video that will help
you learn about the costs of the death
penalty.
- Meet New
People: You may be surprised how
many people agree with you and your burnin'
desire to end the death penalty. You will
have opportunities to meet new people,
sign up with Coloradans
Against the Death Penalty, and receive
updates on action in Colorado and other
fundraising events.

Here's How Individuals Can Register:

call him at (513) 313-9786.
You can e-mail a clever
title for your chili. Send a 25-30 word
description for the judges; we will
print up a small placard to set in front
of your chili.
- Bring your
chili in a crockpot. (We may have extra
pots depending on when you register.)
- Pay $20.00
dollars at the front door when you bring
your chili.
Then keep your fingers crossed
for the many prizes.
