CADP Asks You to Contact Legislators and Newspapers
-- By Randy Canney, former President of Coloradans Against
the
Death
Penalty
Because the United States Supreme Court's decision
in Ring v. Arizona nullified Colorado's three-judge panel
death sentencing law, now is a good time for a flood of
letters or e-mails. [Even though Colorado rushed to enact
a new
law during the subsequent special legislative session,
lawmakers
may revisit our laws affecting capital punishment.]
Contact your Colorado legislators and newspapers. Let them know if you support:
- A moratorium on the death penalty.
- A study of the validity, cost, and morality of the death penalty.
- A vote of the people about reinstating the death penalty.
Each person should address those ideas and issues that are most important to them.
