Death Penalty Cases in the Trial Courts
Omar Ramirez -- New lawyers were appointed recently to represent Mr. Ramirez after a Denver judge disqualifed the public defender's office. It is likely that new dates will be set for hearings on legal motions and for trial.
Nathan Thill -- Trial on charges of first degree murder is set to begin on November 1, 1999 in Pueblo, where the case was transferred after a Denver judge granted a change of venue.
Ron White -- Mr. White was sentenced to death in 1991, but the prosecutor agreed last year that his sentence should be vacated. His new sentencing hearing is scheduled to begin in Pueblo on November 30, 1999.
George Woldt -- Trial on charges of first degree murder is set to begin on February 7, 2000 in Colorado Springs. Mr. Woldt's co-defendant, Lucas Salmon, was sentenced to life without parole.
There are a number of other Colorado cases in which prosecutors may seek the death penalty, but have not yet announced that they will do so..
