A Letter from the CADP President
Dear CADP Friends,
Thank you for your generosity and support from the dinner CADP held to honor Father Jim Sunderland. We had a wonderful turn-out. Jim was touched by your affection and admiration. And although CADP's modest goal was to break even, we did much better than that! The crowd was quite a mix of people, reflecting the broad coalition we are trying to build young and older, criminal defense lawyers, clergy, and citizen activists. David Wymore gave an intense, funny, and touching talk. He is so himself, so real. Thanks again to Ann Roan and the members of her committee who helped make the dinner such a success.
Bud Welch, whose daughter was one of the victims in the Oklahoma City bombing, was in Colorado in mid-November. Denise Madden of the Denver Archdiocese arranged a full agenda for him. Hope you had a chance to hear him. All of the arguments for and against the death penalty pale in the face of a murder victim's family member who says, "Not in my loved one's name."
Our website is up at www.coadp.org. Thanks to Wendy Trafton and Phil Tobias. Thanks as well to Denise Madden for our brochure.
CADP's millennium goals include expanding our organization, considering appropriate legislative action, continuing to collect signatures in support of the Moratorium (in our view, a step toward abolition), sending our speakers to churches, schools and organizations, and improving and increasing communication with all of you.
